The Program

Successful long-term sobriety is much more than abstinence from mind altering substances-stopping the cycle of addiction and negative behavior is just first step into successful recovery.  However, maintaining sobriety requires learning how to be responsible, mature, functional members of society; that is the key to maintaining a lifetime of quality sobriety.  Therefore, encouraging healthy, sober behavior is our top priority. We guide our members in discovering the issues which trigger them to use alcohol and drugs, and how to avoid these types of personal triggers in the future. We impart to them the life skills necessary to lead happy, sober lives and focus on character-building, self-esteem, honesty, and humility. Recovery becomes a way of life, not just a temporary state of being.

12-Step Based Program

We Care’s rehabilitation program is 12 Step-based where house members are taught to identify character defects, take responsibility for their actions, and learn how to 'live life on life's terms' - not their own.  Sobriety requires a complete lifestyle change, not just stopping substance abuse, whether alcohol or other drugs.

Family Atmosphere

We foster a “family” feel and encourage camaraderie and friendship among our house members. We are strong in our belief that the more support one has in recovery, the better.  A consistent and positive environment enables our members to feel safe and secure, which in turn allows them to make inroads into their fears, triggers, and issues surrounding addiction.

Exclusively for Women

Through positive peer interaction with other women, around the clock support, and a large network of fellow sober women who have gone through the program from its inception in 1961 to today, our house members are able to not only achieve long term sobriety, but become happy, healthy, and functional members of society and return to their families whole. At any given time there are no more than 6 women in the program.  Therefore, groups are small and intimate, creating a sense of family and camaraderie that fosters learning, growth and healing.

Structured Environment

There is always support for the women in the house through live-in, sober managers and staff available 24/7. Our staff and managers provide a structured environment that fosters healthy living habits; from the daily shared house chores such as cleaning bathrooms, cooking meals, eating together, to our daily meetings and group outings, our house members develop the strong bonds essential to successful, long-term sobriety.

Small Groups, Peer Led

At any given time there are no more than 8 women in the program.  Therefore, groups are small and intimate, creating a sense of family and camaraderie that fosters learning, growth and healing. The program consists of daily meetings, sometimes twice a day, and group book study directed at learning and working the 12 steps of recovery from alcohol and substance abuse, led by house managers that have at least 4 years of sobriety themselves.

Learn to Live, Sober

Our graduates continue to return for house meetings, get-togethers, and visits long after they graduate; they can always come to us with questions, concerns, advice or for a sympathetic ear.  With that support system in place, graduates are aided in their continuing efforts to maintain sobriety.  Unlike most treatment centers, where graduates complete the program and then find themselves alone once again, our graduates are always welcome back for support, surrounded by friends and able to rely on sober women graduates of the program, both past and present.

value and quality care-for women, by women.
