What do we do now?

For the time being nothing. Once you drop your family member off with We Care, your focus should be on yourself and your recovery from living with/loving the alcoholic in your life.

Where do I go for help?

The AL anon Family Groups are an excellent resource, and a great place to start. You may contact them at (702) 615-9494. Please attend at least six meetings. This has been the number one way to be able to give your loved one the most effective help.

When can I visit/ call her?

For the first two weeks, there are no visits or phone calls for new residents. This gives the women time to start to feel better, and build a new recovery based foundation in her life. After two weeks, she will be off restriction and be able to make phone calls as follows; One 10 minute call to a AA sponsor, two 5 minute call to sober women (outreach), and then two 5 minute each personal calls. If you live out of the area, you may want to provide a calling card, as our client line does not make long distance calls. Visiting starts on the first weekend after they are off restriction, for example if restriction ends on a Wednesday, the first visit would be on the following Saturday. Visits are for one hour, Saturday or Sunday between 3 and 5 p.m. The residents may always receive mail and packages. Our address is 2216 S. 6th Street, Las Vegas, NV 89104.

What if she calls and wants to come home early?

This doesn’t happen often, but is not unusual. The first week can be hard for a woman. She often has been living in an isolated situation, and is uncomfortable in a family setting such as ours. Your firm encouragement is greatly needed at this time. Sometimes they decide recovery is not for them, especially if they are still uncomfortable for the detox process, they should be asked to stay where they are, and reminded of why they came to treatment in the first place. It is also helpful to remind them they can’t return home until they have finished the program. Remember the manipulation tendencies don’t go away overnight.

If I am a woman in recovery can I come to the meetings at We Care?

Yes you can. We ask that you come as a meeting participant, and not use the time before or after the meeting as a personal visit.

Can we go to any of the outside meetings you take the women to during the week?

Absolutely, just keep in mind the women always sit as a group at outside meetings, and will not be able to visit with you.

She keeps calling me and asking for things, is this o.k. ?

If you are comfortable bring her certain items that is o.k. If she is still on restriction you won’t be able to see her at that time though. We provide everything a women needs to be comfortable while she is in the house though, so anything you bring would be an extra.

How do I make a payment?

Payment must be made at admittance; a non-refundable deposit of $750.00 is due on arrival.  An additional payment of $800.00 must be made in two weeks, an additional $750.00 before the client goes home.
